Network design affects network use and hence behaviour: A review of It’s Complicated (Post 2)

This is the second in a series of posts reviewing “It’s Complicated” by Danah Boyd. It’s obvious when pointed out, but the way a physical space is designed dictates to a large extent how it will be used. It may be… Continue Reading →

It’s more nuanced than complicated: A review of It’s Complicated (post 1)

This is a review, across multiple posts, of “It’s Complicated” by Danah Boyd. I’m new to this book review thing, but it is one reason I set-up this blog. Beyond a diary to motivate me to keep running, I also wanted… Continue Reading →

Slow and steady

After the terrible run in Montreal I was a bit worried that I’d lost my running mojo and that run #32 was also going to be tough.  So I decided to take it slow, see how it went and, if… Continue Reading →

Montreal

I wasn’t sure before I arrived if I’d been to Montreal before. As soon as I got into the immigration hall I remembered that I had been. The taxi ride into the city didn’t ring any other bells. And no… Continue Reading →

I hit the wall… and didn’t make it though

Overcast, getting brighter

Run #29 was a difficult run to get started on. It’s been a hard week and I really didn’t want to do it. The only way I convinced myself to get out was that I’d only run up to the… Continue Reading →

Fools Gold

Run #28 on a muggy, heavy clouded Saturday. What has recently become one of my favourite songs came on early into the run. The spiky lead guitar is probably the one song that makes me regret my career choice. The… Continue Reading →

Hovering

The first part of the run up behind the prison was magical. I took a path I’d not taken before, and it took me round the edge of the ridge overlooking the Downs as they head towards Brighton. The grass… Continue Reading →

Pushing it, run #26

It’s an intensive business practicing for the school 1,500m with only a few days notice. 2,000m full run with child #1. Doing very well. Now just needs to build some confidence that energy won’t totally run out halfway round.
