Two short runs while on holiday, and over two weeks since the last one meant I didn’t set out with high hopes. I decided to force myself to the top of the Landport Bottom hill and keep going if I could.
I took it very easily, the twinge in the calf is still noticeable when I walk and run. However, at the top of the hill I still felt fine, the leg wasn’t hurting so I thought I’d keep going. Up and over into the forest, with a quick stop to take the picture that gives rise to the awful pun and then on.
Again, I thought I’d just take the short route round. But by the time I got to the highest point I still felt fine, and so kept going taking the route for what I have started to think of as my usual run. All the way to doing my first 5km over a month. Over six minutes slower than my fastest time, but definitely cause for celebration.
