Sunset at the top of the Chalk Pit

What felt most gutting at the time about this first 20 minute non-stop run was that I came to the halfway point at the very top of the climb. Although that is of course absurd, because even minor reflection makes it clear that if I’d started to go down again I’d only have had to do more climbing on the way back.

Not a frightfully interesting insight, except to note that the brain under stress does think some ridiculous things.

As it was, it was downhill all the way and so actually it wasn’t the halfway point at all because its much faster with gravity on your side.

It is a fantastic time of year to be out, so many flowers and trees covered with blossom. Though, as I run without my glasses on it is all a little of a blur.

Actually saw a rabbit today, bobbing away from me at the top of the Chalk Pit. I’m sure I had enough breath to have caught it had I wanted.
