Although I nearly made it last run, I finally ran the full 5km, well, 5.11km to be precise.
I did my regular route anti-clockwise this time. It’s strange how the mind works. I’d convinced myself that once I was on the Downs heading towards Jill’s pond it would be totally flat. It wasn’t of course because as the photos from this and this run show, the highest part of the run is way past the pond.
Just past Jill’s Pond, where I took the photo, I hit a real energy low. By the time I got to the top of Landport Bottom I was ready to give up. I convinced myself to let gravity do the work and that I’d stop by the bottom gate. Of course, by the time I got there I got my second wind and was able to run the full 5km. Feeling pretty pleased with myself I must say.
