Run #28 on a muggy, heavy clouded Saturday. What has recently become one of my favourite songs came on early into the run.

The spiky lead guitar is probably the one song that makes me regret my career choice.

The song turned out to be appropriate for this run though.

Fresh from my success on run #27 and breaking the half hour mark for 5km, I set off at a faster pace. At the 10 minute mark Run-Keeper told me my pace was above 10km/ hour. And this was at the point in the run where it had been almost all uphill.

So, I thought, I can get to sub-25 minutes. It certainly felt tough from time to time, and I realised afterwards that I barely looked around at all. But by the 20th minute, just before the top of Landport Bottom it felt like I was still on track, and Run-keeper suggested this was true, and from that point on it’s basically downhill all the way.

Too much hubris; I managed to cut a whole 25 seconds off the last time. Given quite how painful I found the run, stitches in lots of different places over its course, I felt I deserved more. Fools Gold indeed.
