Provence, 21 August 2014After the last slow run to get back into my stride, I thought I’d go a little further at about the same pace. I decided not to start by going through the vineyard – see the picture in the previous post – because it was rough ground and not much fun to run on.

I set out to run up the hill and into the wooded area across the road that Google Maps suggested had a path running through it. It was much more of a climb than I had imagined, and when I got to the end of the metalled road it wasn’t clear to me if it was accessible or not. The perfect excuse to turn around. By this time though my throat was incredibly dry and I was exhausted. The last lap round the vineyard this time to make the run a little longer, was tough going – not helped much by Eye of the Tiger  appearing as the last track of the run…

Final stats? 3.8km in just under 30 minutes. Better than last time, but it feels like a while before I’ll be troubling 5km again, let alone being ready for the Downlands Challenge in October.
