The last of the 25 minute runs in the series of four. I felt so tired yesterday after an awful night’s sleep that I gave it a miss, but had to do it today.
It was a gorgeous evening, the sun was just setting as I ran up the long grind of Landport Bottom. It was in the eyes almost all the way. The photo shows the sun as it was about to drop below the horizon. It cast the most amazingly long shadows, giving the grass and buttercups the most amazing texture.
Then it was through the hedge tunnel and the narrow path, made all the narrower by the nettles that have grown-up incredibly quickly, even since the last run.
And then onto the flat at the top of the hill.
It was at that moment it all became slightly idyllic, as I passed a few rabbits, then some leaping lambs playing together, and finally out to a view of clouds and patches of sunlight scudding over Firle Beacon.
All this to the sound track of the Stone Roses, Fools Gold.
And it was quite literally downhill from there.
