Behind the Gallops, 27 July 2014After the terrible run in Montreal I was a bit worried that I’d lost my running mojo and that run #32 was also going to be tough.  So I decided to take it slow, see how it went and, if I was still going fine halfway through, run an extra 10 minutes.

It certainly wasn’t easy, and I stayed well below my best pace all the way round. But, by the time I got up to the top of the Gallops I wasn’t totally exhausted. So I turned left and headed up towards Mount Harry, turning round after about 5 minutes.

It was at that point I nearly gave up, took the short route home and cut my losses. I promised myself I could if I just kept running back to join my usual route. But once I got to that point I was at the top of the run and it was downhill from there. So, again, I just kept going. The first 5km took over 31 minutes, but the total distance was 7km, taking 45 minutes.

I was much stiffer, particularly in the calves, but another minor record under my belt and hopefully back on track.
